For Valentine's Day weekend, my blog was about relationships and about to create strong bonds. You can catch up HERE if you missed it.

I'm currently reading (or listening to - if you know me, you know I love listening to books) Million Dollar Consulting, by Alan Weiss. He said something really interesting…

When Michelangelo created the David sculpture, he was asked: "How did you create such a marvelous work of art with a used piece of marble?" Michelangelo responded: "That's easy. I just got rid of everything that didn't look like David."

That's actually very interesting when you think about it. If you chisel out of your life everything that does not look like your final masterpiece, if you get rid of all the distractions, you’ll be able to reach your goals. Start looking at what you’re doing in this world where everything is so busy, where everybody is so busy all the time. We're busy doing a whole bunch of stuff, and sometimes, without realizing it, we may be using our hammer and our tools to try and chisel something that has nothing to do with our final masterpiece.

What is it in your life that you may be doing that has nothing to do with your goal or with your objective? Can you start doing some cleanup? Can you start putting all the distractions, and all the things that are keeping you from reaching your goal, aside?

Follow the six layers of a person’s self (as you may be familiar with my D.N.A. System) and ask yourself the question for each neurological level.

Look at your environment first, whether it is stuff or people. We are the average of the five people that we spend the most time with. Ask yourself if these people are supporting you. Are they lifting your average up or are they pulling it down? Is everybody in your life on board with your goals, with your objective, with your dream?

Then, look at your behaviours. Look at the things that you're doing. Is everything that you're doing in line with your goal, with your dream?

What about your skills? Do you have the skills that you need to have to be able to chisel this masterpiece?

What about your beliefs and values? Is there anything in your mind, any limiting beliefs that need to go?

Is there any part of your identity that could be improved? "I am shy. I am weak. I am not a morning person. I am bad with names. I am a bad sleeper." There are so many things we tell ourselves. All the identity pieces that are not serving you, they can go too.

Lastly, think about your purpose... What are you doing this for? Who is your dream for? What is your goal in life? What is your endgame? Did you really take the time to envision what it is that you want?

Take some time, have a look at your life and decide what is a distraction, what is not going to be part of your final piece. Then, decide what you want to keep. Take a moment to think about what it is that you want and then put everything else aside. Answer each question and eliminate the distractions so that you can reach your Purpose.
